Don’t forget your excellent take on the Book of Job. I found it very interesting.

I really enjoyed and had this take on the book of Job resonate with me. That story is very easily misinterpreted and the idea that god at one point was cynical and petty being gives me a lot of insight into Christians (My) relationship with god. I could probably write an essay on just this take, I’d love someone to expand more on it as well.

May I ask which episode is it from? Ty!

I read Job in my teens and thought about it all my life. The series on Job is so satisfying, like scratching 25 year old itch.

Madame Butterfly Effect hooked me originally. Gateway drug of a podcast.

I ripped off the bandaid with the Anti-Humans. It was my “trial by fire” episode.

Dude that was fucking wild knowing DC’s work already. That whole “Nazi were definitely not the biggest threat to civilization in the 20th century” hit hard.

I stumbled onto his work by accident, read the synopsis of that episode, listened to it, and was immediately hook for life.

To Serve Man was mine. Still got a soft spot for those wacky Aztecs.

I need to go back to that one

I loved the series on slavery and then started reading really nasty stuff about you and have just read yesterday your interview by Joe Bernstein. Having seen nothing in the slavery material to justify the things I've read, I decided to continue with shorter pieces and this helps a lot. I do enjoy reading people I disagree with but after reading that interview you sound a lot like guys I knew post-WW II, mostly Navy who spent a lot of time reading. They didn't always emerge with views heard on campus.

Darryl...with "Enemy" if you can carve out of a space for patriotic, red-blooded Americans to stop looking at WW2 with the moral-depth of a lazily-written Marvel movie, it will be nothing short of heroic. We need as many (veterans especially) that can find that balance of honoring the sacrifices and martial tradition of the major belligerents without reflexive brain-dead cheerleading or excusing mass murder...

I sure hope something didn’t happen to Unraveling 😞 been almost a year. I don’t think there’s a better duo talking about world events than Jocko and Darryl.

We live in different places now, but we’ll connect again when we can.

Agreed! Unraveling was one of my absolute favorites while it was producing!!!

I am fiending for a six hour banger of Enemy…

I'll add that with the rest of the Substack series soon.

Thanks for the summary! A reminder that I still have a lot to listen to.

Thank you, I was thinking I was just an idiot for not being able to figure substack out.
