Interview on WW2, Hitler & More w/Thad Russell
Hey everybody. I’ve been trying to get this World War 2 episode done, and you guys have been so patient as I’ve been out of pocket. I thought I’d do a few interviews to give you some content while I work. In this one, Thaddeus Russell and I get loose on World War 2, Hitler, and more. The first hour is free, the rest is behind his Substack paywall. Enjoy.

The rest not being behind your paywall as well as his seems like a party foul.
Hey Darryl, I’ve been reading about how the death tolls at some Nazi camps like Auschwitz and Treblinka were significantly revised down over the decades. For example, Auschwitz from 4 million to around 1.1 million and Treblinka from 3 million to around 870,000. I understand these early numbers came from Soviet estimates right after the war, which we now know were grossly inflated. Given that, I’m curious why the overall figure of 6 million Jewish deaths has never really changed. Is it because it became symbolic over time, or is there another reason historians still stand by it? I want to clarify by saying I’m absolutely not denying that Jews were persecuted and killed during the Holocaust, or that terrible atrocities didn’t happen, they clearly did, and the suffering was very real.
